Former World’s Strongest Man winner Eddie Hall has embarked on his bodybuilding journey. One of the greatest strongman athletes in the world, Hall has tried his hand at boxing. However, now the former WSM winner has shifted his focus to bodybuilding. The Englishman, who plans to compete in Mr. Olympia, currently weighs 375 lbs. He is bulking up before cutting weight to become shredded. Recently, Eddie Hall trained with four-time Mr. Olympia, Jay Cutler, In his quest to learn from the best.

The former strongman has already trained with IFBB Pro Jamie ‘The Giant’ Johal, Larry Wheels, and others. In his latest YouTube video, Hall learned the secrets to building a great back from the legendary Jay Cutler.

Jay Cutler puts Eddie Hall through the gauntlet

At the beginning of the video, the WSM winner joked anyone who didn’t know Culter needed “a slap across the face.” Before beginning the workout, Cutler said he would show Eddie Hall “a few things,” to build his back muscles. Cutler also intimidated Hall a little when he said they would take only “45 to 60 sec rest between each set.”

The first exercise on the list was the lat pulldown. However, Cutler shared a few secrets to making the movement more effective, he told Hall to use wrist wraps. Otherwise, the pulling movements would result in a “forearm pump,” which Cutler liked to avoid. He also revealed that the “mindset” during a workout is “very important.”

According to the former Mr. Olympia, the mind-muscle connection is optimal for muscle growth. The duo then moved on to dumbbell rows and then went back to the lat pulldown machine. However, this time, Cutler told Hall to switch up the grip from pronated to supinated. The four-time Mr. Olympia said doing lat pulldowns with both grips would develop the muscles that bodybuilders flaunt during the back double biceps pose.

The final two movements were cable and machine rows, respectively. Cutler shared his insights on them and mentioned that while the lat pulldown focuses on building a wide back, rowing movements help develop the thickness and depth of back muscles. After the workout, the former strongman shared how Cutler inspired him.

Eddie Hall’s fanboy moment

Eddie Hall and Jay Cutler reminisced about the past after the workout. Cutler revealed how he and Ronnie Coleman worked out together. The former Arnold Classic champion admired how Coleman trained, which led to Eddie Hall remembering how Cutler and Ronnie Coleman inspired him.

In a fanboy moment, the former WSM winner said how “everybody had posters of Ronnie Coleman and Jay Cutler,” in their rooms. “As a 13-year-old kid starting the gym… you definitely inspired people like myself,” Hall told Cutler.
