Arnold Schwarzenegger smirking at the camera while holding a cigar in hand strikes the memory. There’s no hiding the love for cigars that the Terminator star has. If there’s any person who is associated with the cigar lifestyle, it is the seven times Mr. Olympia Champion Arnold.
Whether or not the lifestyle is healthy and should be promoted is the subject of another discussion. But Arnold owns it in style. The Hollywood veteran had never smoked a real cigar before 1977 until one special dinner that changed his life’s dynamics forever.

The dinner that changed Arnold’s life
Arnold is always known for his robust self; the father of five never shied away from speaking his heart out. Though many criticize him for his outspoken self and lifestyle, Arnold holds no regret. Ex-wife Maria may counter Arnold with a list of why he should quit smoking, but Arnie has his defense ready.
Arnold, in a resurfaced interview, says, “I can smoke stogies around her, I can smoke stogies in my house- first of all, because her father introduced me to stogies, and second of all, I am a stud.” In the video, he calls himself “ba****” and says he does not “take no sh** from anyone.” He makes it clear that he smokes his stogies anywhere where he wants.
For the unversed, Maria’s father, Sargent Shriver, introduced Arnold to cigars. It was the ‘Kennedys’ pro-celebrity tennis tournament and the after-dinner that changed his life forever. Talking about it, Arnie revealed that Sargent Shriver lighted a cigar and offered him one alongside his other sons.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has a valid reason to thank his ex-father-in-law
Getting introduced to cigars by none other than his future father-in-law was, as Arnold calls it, a “big advantage.” Because of this, his ex-wife Maria could never complain because he always knew what to reply. Whenever Maria would complain, Arnold would remind her that her father wouldn’t have introduced him to something so bad.

The couple got married in 1986 after years of dating. After 25 years of marriage, Maria filed for divorce in 2011 following Arnold’s affair with house help Mildred Baena and his fathering a child outside wedlock were the reasons that prompted Maria to take the big step. The former couple is the parents of four children.
