The art of bodybuilding has several myths surrounding it, with its impact on every individual’s body. Women’s bodybuilding took off after the popularity of the men’s division. However, with the lack of guidance in the early days, several notions took birth. While a lot of them have been debunked since then, one of the few that remains is the need to lift heavy weights and work out incessantly. This is why, author and fitness enthusiast, Lesley Maxwell is asking women to stop doing it. She instead urges them to follow a better alternative.

In her latest Instagram post, Lesley Maxwell wrote a caption alongside a picture of herself that shows her toned abs in all their glory. Maxwell, via her post, wishes to change an already existing narrative around women’s bodies and how it might be affecting their health.

Lesley Maxwell wrote in her Instagram, “Many women experience losing their ‘tone’ (muscle mass) but it doesn’t have to be that way. We don’t need to lift super heavy weights or do heaps of exercise. The secret is knowing how to train effectively and eat clean nourishing food, rather than going hungry and spending our precious energy on ineffective exercises. And it feels good to be strong! Let me know if you need some help with a personalized program”, followed by a heat emoji and “xoxo”, which generally stands for hugs and kisses.

Lesley’s photo alongside the post is a testament to the fact, that hers are the words to live by. At 65 years old, Maxwell has managed to look insanely fit, with not an ounce of fat visible in her physique. And she chalks it all up to eating clean and nourishing food and working out in a strict and effective manner. She also wishes to advocate the same for everyone.
