“Don’t Insult Current Actors”: Original Hulk Lou Ferrigno Enraged Marvel Fans by Badmouthing CGI Superheroes in 2021

Lou Ferrigno is a multi-talented personality. He began his career in bodybuilding, where he won several major titles. Although the Mr. Olympia title eluded Ferrigno, he managed to clinch Mr. America and a couple of Mr. Universe titles.

Subsequently, he tried his hand at filmography, where he delivered many eye-catching performances. The audience widely appreciated his portrayal of The Hulk in The Incredible Hulk series.

There is no hiding the fact that Ferrigno is a huge critic of CGI. However, he once enraged Marvel fans by slamming CGI superheroes.

Last year, the American superstar took to Twitter to express his disappointment at CGI superheroes.

He said, “Can’t think of another superhero that isn’t in costume or CGI. Worked damn hard on my diet and exercise for the Hulk. Wasn’t going to let anyone down. The hulk was my hero as a kid as well.”

However, his criticism of CGI superheroes didn’t go well with Marvel fans. Reacting to Ferrigno’s statement, a fan said, “I loved you as Hulk but don’t insult the current actors’ dedication…”

Meanwhile, another fan wrote, “Sorry but if you claim you were a Hulk fan when you were younger than you would want the most accurate version on big screen. No such thing as 7-8 foot tall 1000 lbs monster that can lift a car with one hand.”

Further, another fan wasn’t happy with Ferrigno’s criticism of CGI superheroes, saying, “Yup and you looked pretty ridiculous. Appreciate the effort and it was the only option back then, but thankfully we’ve progressed to better CGI.”

How close did Ferrigno come to winning the Mr. Olympia title?

During his prime days, Ferrigno had an intriguing rivalry with Arnold Schwarzenegger. In 1974, Ferrigno participated in his first Mr. Olympia competition. The event was held just weeks after he had won his second Mr. Universe title.

Ferrigno finished second behind Arnold in his maiden attempt in the Mr. Olympia competition. That was his best result in the event, as he went on to clinch the third spot the following year.
