He said, “Can’t think of another superhero that isn’t in costume or CGI. Worked damn hard on my diet and exercise for the Hulk. Wasn’t going to let anyone down. The hulk was my hero as a kid as well.”

However, his criticism of CGI superheroes didn’t go well with Marvel fans. Reacting to Ferrigno’s statement, a fan said, “I loved you as Hulk but don’t insult the current actors’ dedication…”

How close did Ferrigno come to winning the Mr. Olympia title?

During his prime days, Ferrigno had an intriguing rivalry with Arnold Schwarzenegger. In 1974, Ferrigno participated in his first Mr. Olympia competition. The event was held just weeks after he had won his second Mr. Universe title.
Ferrigno finished second behind Arnold in his maiden attempt in the Mr. Olympia competition. That was his best result in the event, as he went on to clinch the third spot the following year.
