“Don’t Care if You Fall”: Bodybuilding Legend and ‘Incredible Hulk’ Fame Lou Ferrigno Once Revealed Director’s Freaky Warning on the Sets

A person doesn’t need to get successful necessarily in the first field they put their feet in. Sometimes one has to keep exploring their options. Lou Ferrigno is one of the veteran pro-bodybuilders who never managed to win a Mr. Olympia title. Even though he couldn’t win a title, Ferrigno is very well acclaimed in the bodybuilding world. He is one of the toughest competitors Arnold had in his career span.

Later, he took his options to compete in football and realized soon that it was not his cup of tea. Eventually, he explored his acting career and found success. However, acting in action films, especially in those times, was never easy. Ferrigno once mentioned an incident from the sets when he aced a tough scene.

What was the difficulty Lou Ferrigno faced?

Action movies are arduous to make. Whether it be acting, directing, or any other aspect of the movie. Moreover, it was much more difficult in the late 70s when ‘The Incredible Hulk’ was released. Ferrigno made his debut in acting in 1977 through that movie. He recalled an incident from the sets where the director gave him clear instructions because of some technical scarcity. 

Ferrigno said, “The director apparently they had a lot of different partitions. I remember the director told me that this is the only one partition because it was very expensive to build the set in those days and he said whatever you do, if you make any mistakes, just go through it, don’t stop.”

He added, “I (the director) am going to roll the cameras. Don’t stop. I don’t care if you fall if anything happens, and I said I am not going to fall.”

Ferrigno grew exponentially in his acting career

Lou Ferrigno commenced his acting career through an incredibly appreciated storyline. The television series ‘Hulk’ was a huge success and is still running successfully in different versions of it. He keeps making cameos in the Hulk movies in which the main character is played by other actors. 

However, he got his first role based on his huge body. But later, he bagged more roles in the movies with the amount of hard work he put into the characters he played. Although his characters still revolved around his massive built physique. Other than Hulk, he has worked in famous movies like ‘Hercules’, ‘Frogtown II’, ‘The Fall Guy’, etc.

However, many professional bodybuilders, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, think he could have won the Mr. Olympia title if he would have stuck to it. But Ferrigno’s destiny brought him directly to the world of acting. From the challenges like these, he has just become tougher and more mature as an actor. Overall, he has had a great run in movies and TV series he has acted in.
