Former professional bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger has remained fit and in shape even in his 70s. Despite undergoing two heart surgeries since the 90s, the seven-time Mr. Olympia still works out regularly. The secret to his longevity is how Arnie has adapted his exercise and diet according to his age. In a 2022 newsletter, the bodybuilding icon revealed he had switched to a mainly vegan diet around 2018. After his second heart surgery, Schwarzenegger reduced his meat and dairy intake. However, in the most recent edition of The Pump Daily, Schwarzenegger shared an alarming stat for plant-based milk.
According to the seven-time Mr. Olympia, the popular alternative to dairy might not be as nutritious as people think it to be. “Plant milk might win popularity contests, but there’s still something to be said about the nutritional benefits of dairy.” Schwarzenegger writes.
In the latest edition of The Pump Daily, Arnold Schwarzenegger writes about coming across a new study “which examined seemingly every plant-based option on the planet.” The former Mr. Olympia conveyed the alarming news, “most plant-based milk does not meet proposed nutrition standards.” However, the bodybuilding icon told his readers not to misinterpret the research.

“Plant-based milk like oat, soy, almond, or pea is bad or presents any danger to your health,” wrote Schwarzenegger. However, the research showed cow’s milk to be more nutrient-rich than plant-based alternatives. According to Schwarzenegger, the study found “only 20 percent of plant-based milk” meets the goal for protein content. Furthermore, just seven percent met the “best in class” guidelines for protein and sugar.
However, the former Mr. Olympia is also aware that many people have dietary restrictions that prevent them from drinking cow’s milk. So what’s the solution for people suffering from lactose intolerance or other conditions? The seven-time Mr. Olympia provided the answer in The Pump Daily.
Arnold Schwarzenegger didn’t hang his readers out to dry
The former Mr. Universe presented The Pump Daily readers with a solution to boost the nutritional value of plant-based milk. According to the bodybuilding legend, people drinking plant-based milk for nutrition should choose the “lower-sugar options.” Ideally, the sugar content of the plant-based milk of their choice should be below 10 grams.
