Mamdouh Elssbiay A.K.A. Big Ramy was the biggest contender for Mr. Olympia 2022 before it began. However, he ended up finishing in the fifth position behind Hadi Choopan, Derek Lansford, Nick Walker, and Brandon Curry. The former two-time champion appreciated the winners and congratulated them for their accomplishments; moreover, he promised to come back stronger. But his opponents may have started seeing him as a bygone champion.

Bodybuilding icon Ramy jumped back instantly to work harder for 2023. Moreover, he will be seen in the Arnold Classic 2023, which will be taking place from March 3 to March 5. Recently, in an MD Muscle Talk podcast, his opponent Hunter Labrada gave a big statement on Big Ramy. Now why would Hunter Labrada say it’s a ‘do or die’ situation for the 2x Mr. Olympia this year?

Big Ramy took his defeat at the 2022 Mr. Olympia with utmost sportsmanship and accepted the judges’ decision with a big smile. However, while fans were eager to watch him again in the latter half of the year in Mr. Olympia 2023, Ramy had different plans. Big Ramy made a late entry into the Arnold Classic, in 2023 and became another contender for this year’s Arnold Classic.

On the other hand, Hunter Labrada saw this move as a move of desperation by the former Mr. Olympia champion. In the podcast, Labrada said, “I think he kind of scooted up that ‘do or die’ moment in his career. He qualified, so he placed fifth. So, it could have been next year’s Olympia taking a full year to take a step back and address what can be addressed. Taking on the Arnold at short notice is definitely setting yourself up with a ‘do or die’ moment of your career.”

The competition still has a couple of weeks to commence. Does Big Ramy really have a chance at winning the title, and if so, who are his biggest competitors in the upcoming bodybuilding competition?
