Arnold Schwarzenegger is a top name in Hollywood. The action hero made his debut with Hercules In New York in 1970. With Conan and Terminator franchises, the bodybuilder turned blockbuster actor rose to stardom with back-to-back hits in the 80s and 90s. With the success of these films, The Terminator star became the obvious choice of many filmmakers, including the legend Albert Pyun.
Pyun is renowned for his low-budget genre and action movies. He has demonstrated unique expertise in utilizing limited budgets creatively and translating vividly interesting tales for a lasting movie experience. Notably, he scripted his version of the 1966 short story “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale” by Philip K. Dick for Schwarzenegger’s Total Recall (1990). The project was not respected
Schwarzenegger’s movie, ‘Total Recall’, was released in 1990. It was credited as one of the best science fiction movies ever made. In the interview with Albert Pyun, the host asked why his version of ‘Total Recall’ didn’t happen.
“I think nobody could see that it could be a commercial film,” Pyun said. Besides, he confessed that Ronald Shusett’s screenplay was “very faithful to the Philip K. Dick story.” Furthermore, he said they had a meeting with the Head of Universal, and “he didn’t respect the project or the script.”
Pyun is touted as a filmmaking legend and is highly regarded for several movies like The Sword and the Sorcerer (1982), Captain America (1990), Kickboxer 2 (1991), and more. Besides, he has a knack for working fast, being resourceful, and adding as much value to the output as he could.
