Another pretty successful movie franchise Arnold has been a part of is ‘The Expendables.’ While he was involved in the first three installments of the franchise, Arnold might not be returning for the fourth film.
Arnold Schwarzenegger reveals why he left ‘The Expendables’
When the shooting of the first movie started, Arnold was still serving as California’s governor. Naturally, he appeared in a cameo role in the film. While we did not see him for too long in the film, the guest appearance set a precedent for what was to come.
Arnold was much more involved in the next two installments of the movie as a proper cast member. But, the way they used him in the third installment of the franchise led to him walking away from the next part. Schwarzenegger initially declined to be a part of the project because of reports of Sylvester Stallone leaving the film. “There is no Expendables without Sly… I would never do the movie without him,” he said
But they have denied the reports as Stallone will be a part of the film. But now, Arnold confirmed about not showing up in the next installment of the famous movie.
“You know, I think the first and second one were terrific…But, in the third one, I thought my part was not written well. It was also not playing well in the movie, as far as I was concerned,” said Arnold. “I didn’t believe I had any value in the movie,” he added.
Nonetheless, it felt like a montage of Arnold’s best one-liners throughout the film.
Arnold’s glorious Hollywood career
The year 1970 marked the beginning of a glorious and mostly successful acting career for the bodybuilding great. He made his debut as a buffed, often shirtless, Conan, Arnold made an instant impact. Soon after, Arnold signed the iconic role of ‘The Terminator’ in the namesake movie franchise.
