One might think that athletes treasure their medals and awards the most in life. While it might be true for some, that’s not how bodybuilding legend Flex Wheeler thinks. During his two decade long career, from 1983 to 2003, Wheeler has won several titles. The most recent addition to his list of accolades was the Lifetime Achievement Award he received during the 2023 Arnold Classic. There was not a single dry eye in the audience, as Wheeler gave his speech.

However, as much as Flex Wheeler values these shiny trophies, they aren’t among his most treasured possessions. In a clip recently shared on his social media, the 57-year-old confessed to what he felt was an embarrassing fact.

Recently, The Sultan of Symmetry shared a video on his Instagram in which he made a candid confession. Wheeler said, “I don’t know where my medallions and awards are. I’m very embarrassed about it. You know, I don’t know where’s my, you know Olympia medallions and I got my honor classic trophies because they’re so massive, you know.”

He added that since those awards are huge, he could not exactly lose them, and yet he has no clue of their whereabouts. Talking about the money he accrued and other luxurious items like cars, Wheeler revealed that they’re all gone now. The bodybuilder has lived in a recurring cycle of making money and burning it.

The Lifetime Achievement Awardee continued, “None of that you have, you know, but there’s a saying…you can say something to someone, they’ll forget that eventually. But how you make them feel they’ll never, never forget.” More than the medals, Wheeler values human connection and kindness. He elaborated on this message as he further penned his thoughts.

Wheeler’s real gains are the people he helps

Flex Wheeler has started a coaching program that helps people achieve their fitness goals. In the caption of the post, Wheeler revealed what he earns from it. The bodybuilding legend lives to see the look in the eyes of his trainees once they “FINALLY lose those pounds and inches.”
