Lou Ferrigno is a retired professional bodybuilder and an American actor. Notably, as a bodybuilder, Ferrigno won the IFBB Mr. America title. He has also been a two-time recipient of the IFBB Mr. Universe title.

However, the bodybuilder cum actor became a household name with his on-screen appearances. But while he is remembered for playing the comic book character ‘The Incredible Hulk’, Ferrigno once openly confessed that Hercules was his best role and adventure.

The bodybuilder has played two of the most iconic roles in cinema’s history. Taking to Facebook in 2019, the Hollywood star said that his role as Hercules was his favorite and he also felt at his physical best then.

“In my opinion, I was in the best shape of my life, and it was one of the best roles and adventures I’ve ever had!” Ferrigno posted on his Facebook page.

Although Ferrigno loved his Hercules character, the audience was not impressed. The film, which was released in 1983, didn’t do well at the box office, even with Ferrigno in the lead.

Contrary to Ferrigno’s opinions, many fans liked him in the role of The Incredible Hulk, where the bodybuilder played the famous “green superhero.”

Ferrigno and his bodybuilding journey

After graduating high school, Ferrigno won his first major title – IFBB Mr. America. He then began training with the legendary bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger. As a result, in 1974, he finished second in his first attempt at Mr. Olympia.

However, the following year Ferrigno tried to beat Schwarzenegger at the same event but failed to do so. The same was turned into a documentary called “Pumping Iron,” which led to his stardom.

However, after years of struggles and switching between various competition levels, in 1996, Ferrigno retired from bodybuilding. From there began his journey in Hollywood, which gave life to some iconic roles ever portrayed.
