Coleman is the undoubted G.O.A.T of strength sports in the bodybuilding world. Having won the Mr. Olympia title for eight consecutive years, Ronnie Coleman is a legend, to say the least. The plethora of achievements of the retired bodybuilder has earned him a royal moniker: The King.

Earlier this year, Ronnie spoke in an interview about what enabled him to achieve such great heights in his career. Discussing his career and his approach towards work-life balance, the retired bodybuilder spoke to Men’s Health magazine.

Ronnie Coleman and his career in law enforcement

Coleman is known for his intensive heavy-weight workout routine and for his perfectly sculpted figure. The athlete got global fame as a pro bodybuilder after securing back-to-back Mr. Olympia titles. Regardless of this, the 8-time Mr. Olympia champ did not stop working his regular job.

At the time, Coleman was a protector of the law. He became a police officer and held a full-time job, all the while he was training for Mr. Olympia. Balancing a career with training is no easy feat. But Coleman’s dedication to the sport did not stop him from adhering to his commitments. He managed to juggle police work even after getting famous as a bodybuilder.

“The only secret I had was that I enjoyed going to work every single day. I had so much fun, and it was the same thing with training. To be honest, I was pretty much doing two things that I loved to do all the time,” explained Ronnie. “To me, neither of them really was something I called work. They were hobbies.”

It is no secret that Ronnie Coleman is extremely hard-working. Not only does he hold the world record for the maximum number of Mr. Olympia victories, but he also became a successful law enforcement agent. Coleman did not stop being an officer of the law even during his reign as Mr. Olympia. This feat was commendable for his fans. In his interview, the retired IFBB pro discussed how he achieved the perfect work-life balance. He stresses the importance of planning ahead for effective time management.

Coleman stated, “I worked the same shift all the time, 3 to 11. That helped me plan my meals, plan my training, and kept me consistent. That may be the best advice I can offer – try to create a way that you can be as consistent as possible with both work and training. I was able to plan my day out, and then it was just a matter of going through the day.”
