Likewise, the American bodybuilder, Derek Lunsford is no exception. Lunsford started off his career with The Octagon and later found his passion in bodybuilding.

Derek Lunsford is a bodybuilding enthusiast with a history in combat sports. From having a formidable career in wrestling to becoming a well-known bodybuilder, Lunsford has covered it all. And now, through his interesting revelations with Ronnie Coleman, his fans got a chance to know him through and through.

Mr. USA’s transition from a wrestler to a bodybuilder

A couple of days back, Lunsford met Ronnie Coleman over a virtual rendezvous. They sat and talked about every in and out of Mr. Olympia’s contest. Mr. USA 2017 even shared his daily workout and dietary regime with Coleman. The 58-year-old then asked Derek about his transition from a wrestler to a bodybuilder. On this, Lunsford recalled his teenage days when he switched his wrestling career to become a prospective bodybuilder.

Recalling his freshman years, the 31-year-old said, “I realized in that time like something was calling me”, and hence Derek pursued his maiden interest in bodybuilding. Further, Mr. USA shared, how his consistent workout regime helped him achieve the physical prowess of a bodybuilder. “I couldn’t get my butt out of the gym”, said Derek.

As the talk advanced, the young bodybuilder disclosed his love for training and workout by stating, “I was at the gym every day. Literally, that’s my home, that’s my place that I love to be”. 

The defining moment for Derek Lunsford in the world of bodybuilding

Initially, he scored little success in the field. However, forthwith his exposure to bodybuilding legends, Jay Cutler and Phil Heath, Lunsford built a meticulous physique just like them. Derek bagged his first big win by pocketing the title of Mr. USA as a light-heavy in 2017. In the same year, Lunsford won 212 Tampa pro and placed fifth at 212 Mr. Olympia 2017. And is taking part in Mr. Olympia since then.

Moving forward with his aesthetic physique, Lunsford is now all set to stand on the reverent podium of Mr. Olympia 2022
