When one begins his/her fitness journey, there are a lot of sources and advice floating around. With so much to choose from and so many options, who better than a former Mr. Olympia to guide you through the process? Arnold Schwarzenegger came up with a daily newsletter to help guide fans with workouts and the basics of a good fitness routine.
In one of the recent editions, Schwarzenegger had a lot of suggestions for beginners who wanted to board the fitness train for the first time. One of the noteworthy observations he made was based on new research regarding pre-workouts.

From what Arnold has seen over the years, he claims that a lot of pre-workouts are just all talk and no work. That was until he found out about caffeine. That’s right! A morning cup of Joe might just be the best pre-workout available for shorter workouts. In general, one grabs a cup of coffee to energize, wake up from a slumber, and focus better. Now, one can reap these benefits for their fitness journey.
A new research suggests that caffeine intake before a 30-minute workout of moderate intensity boosts the benefits of a normal workout. It increases energy and helps with aerobic metabolism. This means that the same amount of exercise, accompanied by the effects of caffeine, can lead to better results.
Schwarzenegger suggested anywhere between 100 to 300 mg of caffeine, that is 1-3 cups of coffee. Anything more than that and your body might grow more and more tolerant towards it. While exercising alone can always give you the same benefits, caffeine boosts the benefits significantly. The former bodybuilder might just inculcate this in his workout routine now!
Being over 70 years old doesn’t deter Arnold
One might associate old age with more relaxing, laid-back ways to lead life. But Arnold Schwarzenegger believes that age is just a number, especially when it comes to training hard.
