The dedication with which Ronnie Coleman works out remains unmatched. The eight-time Mr. Olympia has had multiple back surgeries and a complete hip replacement. Despite facing such challenges, the 58-year-old bodybuilding icon regularly works out at the Metroflex gym in Arlington, Texas. In fact, not even freezing temperatures could keep Coleman out of the gym.

Earlier, the bodybuilding legend uploaded a video on Instagram with a lengthy caption. In his latest post, the former Mr. Olympia explained why he wore a sweatsuit during a workout session.

Not even freezing temperatures can stop Ronnie Coleman

Ronnie Coleman posted a video of himself busting out reps on the lat pull-down machine at the Metroflex gym. In the video, Coleman performed 20 reps in a row. “You know it’s gotta be freezing cold for me to be working out in a full sweatsuit,” wrote Coleman in the caption. Besides the sweatsuit, the bodybuilding icon wore black, fingerless gloves with integrated wrist wraps.

“This had to be the coldest night ever,” added the eight-time Mr. Olympia. Coleman also said it was only 12 degrees outside. Metroflex is an old-school gym resembling the old, dungeon-style gyms with minimal creature comforts. However, according to Coleman, the temperature was only 20 degrees inside the gym with no windows. Despite the intense workout, Coleman’s hands felt cold.

No matter what the bodybuilding icon did, Coleman couldn’t get his “hands to thaw out.” The former Mr. Olympia said his hands felt “numb” for the entire workout. However, the eight-time Mr. Olympia wasn’t about to let the discomfort stop him from having an intense workout session. The bodybuilding champion wrote not even “freezing temperatures” could stop “BigRon” from working out.

A test for the state

Not only Ronnie Coleman, but the entire state of Texas has also been struggling with the cold wave sweeping across the United States. The Arctic blast has caused a surge in power demand across the second-largest state in America. The holiday season, paired with an advisory to stay indoors, resulted in the government declaring a power grid emergency for Christmas eve.

The United States government declared the emergency so the state’s power grid could burn more fuel to produce electricity. According to The Texas Tribune, the specific order allowed the state’s power grid to exceed air pollution limits to provide more energy. February 2021 was the last time such an order had to be issued.
