He came, he conquered, and now the legend is no longer with us. Perhaps the void after losing a world-class bodybuilder like Cedric McMillan will always be there. More than just a bodybuilder, he was part of a larger sports family and the legend is an inspiration for millions of people out there. Chiefly, his death has left the entire sports world in shock.

The 44-year-old bodybuilder was a former US Army instructor and a member of the National Guard. His major career highlight came in 2017 when he won the prestigious Arnold Classic award in bodybuilding. McMillan entered bodybuilding in 2009 and ever since he had won a couple of titles in the sports. Though from 2020, he was out of the sport due to injuries and health troubles.

Third death in the past six months

McMillan’s death has certainly raised a lot of concerns. Since it’s the third death of a bodybuilder in the past six months, questions are inevitable. Is the cost of becoming a world champion bodybuilder too much? From Shawn Rhoden and George Peterson’s death to losing a champion like McMillan, the safety of bodybuilders is surely under threat.

It was revealed that the bodybuilding champion had some previous health problems. Right from the moment, he was tested positive for COVID-19. He had been suffering from breathing issues and his heart condition was also critical. Though the actual reason for his death has not been reported, still people are considering the reason for his demise to be the body enhancement drugs.

However, as of now, people are still digesting the news of losing a gem like Cedric McMillan.

Kenny Omega paid tribute to Cedric McMillan

The entire world is mourning, for they have lost a legend. Paying his tribute, the Canadian wrestler Kenny Omega shared a heartfelt message on his Twitter handle. Along with a picture of him with McMillan, he wrote, “RIP Cedric McMillan. We only had one opportunity to work together but I’ll never forget the laughs and stories. An incredible athlete/bodybuilder all while serving his country and being a stand up guy.”

The safety is the sport of bodybuilding is a serious issue. However, the question remains: will someone be regulating the usage of drugs and steroids, or will others also have the same fate as Cedric McMillan?
