Dorian Yates was phenomenal in the bodybuilding arena during the 1990s. The 60-year-old bodybuilding star retired in 1997 after securing the Mr.Olympia title 6 times. From there on, Ronnie Coleman reigned the sport for a long time. Dorian Yates started practicing Yoga after his retirement and credits it for his fitness and health even after 25 years of retirement.

Dorian Yates, however, shares his bodybuilding journey with his fans through his Instagram channel. Known for high-intensity training sessions, he now shares his knowledge of bodybuilding with his followers, thus contributing to the sport. He recently shared a video on his social media that shows the struggle to ace a ripped body such as Dorian’s. 

Dorian Yates shared the struggle for the last rep

In the video shared on Instagram, Dorian was seen struggling to do that very last rep of every exercise he did. “Every.Last.Rep!” he captioned the video. “You’ll see here, the last rep on each of the exercises we did for shoulders, traps, and triceps,” he added, saying that pretty much every rep he performed for building physique was either forced or assisted by his trainer.

Speaking about seated lateral raises in the video he wrote, “I did a couple of partial reps after assisted reps to truly go beyond failure where I cannot physically lift the weight anymore!” The struggle in the video is real as Dorian was seen grunting for every last rep he did as his trainer encourages him to push beyond. Most of his last reps were assisted by his trainer in the video.

The video reflects the amount of dedication and endurance that a bodybuilder requires to flaunt a well-defined physique. After watching the video, the audience can better relate to his career-ending injuries. But watching the legend lift weights is something to be cherished.

Injuries limited ‘The Shadow’s’ career

Lifting heavy weights isn’t a task without risks. And ‘The Shadow’ career was cut short because of the injuries he survived. “I was limited because I’ve got a bicep and tricep injury on my left side,” Yates said, speaking about why he has left bodybuilding training.

Yates also suffered a partially torn supraspinatus because of lifting heavy weights, which later resulted in a shoulder injury. All the injuries limited Yates’s opportunities in bodybuilding and he retired from the sport in 1997. However, his bodybuilding throwbacks remind fans what a beast he was.
