Since his successful run as a bodybuilder, actor, and politician, Arnold Schwarzenegger did not traverse the path of fame alone. The star had many people to look up to while on this journey. Schwarzenegger derived inspiration from many places—from family and friends to other famous celebrities. One of the gems was professional boxing legend, Muhammad Ali.

The boxer and the bodybuilder have been close since the 70s. Although back then they belonged to different professions, they bonded over a lot of things. Their philanthropic attitude was one aspect that was able to bring them together.

In June 2016, the legendary boxer breathed his last, after losing his battle with Parkinson’s disease. His funeral witnessed many famous personalities including Arnold Schwarzenegger. During an interview shortly after his demise, the actor mentioned how Ali inspired him. One of the noteworthy teachings by the boxer was the act of giving. The Austrian Oak recalled how he was inspired by Ali, not because of his insane boxing skills but because of his altruistic indulgences.

“I’ve seen him first-hand handing out $100 bills” remembered Schwarzenegger as he talked about Ali’s charitable nature. Together, the stars would often travel around, promoting their movies or shows, and have a good time. The actor also noted how it was Ali’s generosity, apart from his talent, that made the boxer one of his idols.
