In fact, he has come up with a flexible yet nutritionally fulfilling diet plan for his fans.
In the latest edition of his newsletter, The Pump Daily, Schwarzenegger shares a blueprint for healthy dietary habits. Let’s have a look at Arnold’s advice on diet and the revised rules on rest days.

According to Arnold Schwarzenegger, there is no best diet in the world. But it is the healthy dietary habits that a person may follow to attain a healthy diet. In the latest edition of his newsletter, Schwarzenegger talked after reading a 10-year study and concluded that it is not necessary to follow a specific style. On the other hand, it might be helpful to follow a common trend.
While giving six points about healthy habits to include in the diet. Schwarzenegger wrote,
- “Eating more than 400 grams of fruits and vegetables per day (for reference, this is about 3 pieces of fruit and 2 cups of vegetables)
- Keeping total dietary fat to less than 30% of your total daily calories (if you’re following a 2,000-calorie diet, this means you could eat up to 65 grams of fat per day)
- Limiting saturated fat to 10 percent (or less) of your daily caloric intake
- Keeping sugar to less than 10 percent of your daily total calories
- Eating 25 grams (or more) of fiber each day
- Consuming more than 3500mg of potassium (potassium is found in many foods including potatoes, avocado, bananas and oranges, green veggies, dairy, cashews, beans and lentils, and salmon)”

Other than suggesting a flexible yet healthy habit for attaining a good diet, Schwarzenegger also debunks a myth about the workout regimen. Moving on, let’s have a look at what Arnold had to say about rest days while training a single muscle.
Were we giving rest days to our muscles without any reason?
It is said that a 48-hour rest is necessary for a muscle group before training it again. However, according to Schwarzenegger, this theory has been recently challenged by researchers as they experimented and found, “Despite working out multiple days in a row, training every day did not harm performance and even led to some improvements.”

However, there are a few conditions to keep in mind. One is to limit the volume and fix the sets and reps of all the exercises. Arnold wrote, “The combination of more lifting experience and not pushing to failure made it possible to train more often, recover, and still stay strong.” Another thing to note was the participants in the experiment felt fatigued. However, it did not affect their results.
