Jackman, who played the iconic superhero Wolverine in the X-Men film franchise, famously followed a strict diet to get in shape for the role. Hugh Jackman consumed up to 8000 calories daily during his Wolverine training. The latter, also included heavy weightlifting and intense cardio sessions.  However, Wiedenbach believes that this fitness approach is ineffective and potentially harmful. He posted a video on his Instagram account and said, “Hollywood’s latest bullshit The Wolverine diet. Hugh Jackman by looking great claims to eat 8000 calories a clear day. This is 8000 dirty.”

Wiedenbach disagrees with the idea of consuming a very high amount of calories for the purpose of building muscle. He believes that excessive calorie intake can lead to unwanted weight gain and health issues. “At 8000 calories a little guy like him who is only 90 would gain a lot of fat.”

He justified his argument with an example of another Hollywood superstar, who had much greater weight than Jackman, but still consumes a lot fewer calories. “David Bautista who runs at 270 it’s only 3000 calories”. Wiedenbach ended his argument with some cryptic words pointing toward the use of performance-enhancing drugs. While the pictures of tablets and drugs came on the screen, he said, “So they tell you the story to distract from what’s really going on out there.”

Jackman was doing planks in the black-and-white footage as his trainer sat next to him and gave instructions. A plank is difficult in and of itself, but Jackman had a slight twist. Jackman supported a large weight on his back, increasing the challenge. He also moved his body back and forth while his feet were placed on two plates.

While the Wolverine diet may have worked for Hugh Jackman, bodybuilding coach Maik Wiedenbach believes that it’s not a practical or sustainable approach to fitness. It is generally recommended to consume a balanced diet that provides enough calories to fuel your workouts and support muscle growth, without overdoing it.
