In recent years Hwang Chul Soon has become one of the most famous bodybuilders based in Asia. Bodybuilding fans across the internet have heard of the name Chul Soon. The Korean bodybuilder has competed in bodybuilding competitions for over a decade now. However, his popularity grew after Chul Soon became the Musclemania World Pro Champion in 2012. Since then, the bodybuilder has won the Musclemania Universe title twice, in 2015 and 2016. However, people once ridiculed the champion bodybuilder.

While the Korean now sports a sculpted eight-pack, broad shoulders, and a slim waistline, he has worked hard for every inch of muscle on his frame. 

The bodybuilding beast who was once a skinny teen

Hwang Chul Soon competes at 200 lbs on stage. During the off-season, the Korean bodybuilding star weighs around 220 lbs at his heaviest. However, the 5’10 ft, 225 lbs mass monster was once a skinny teen. When he was 18, Chul Soon weighed around 57 kg (125 lbs). At his height, the Korean looked scrawny, and his peers would jeer at him. So the teenager began working out.

Chul Soon started his fitness journey by himself. He did bodyweight exercises that helped him gain muscle and some weight. At one point, the young bodybuilder performed an insane number of crunches, saying, “I used to do situps 3,000 times every day”. However, he realized that only performing a lot of reps wasn’t the right approach to building muscle. So the aspiring bodybuilder changed his approach and began following a structured workout plan and diet.

What started as a quest to gain weight and become stronger became a lifelong passion for Hwang Chul Soon. “I’ve worked hard and over the last 12 years I have gone up to more than 220 lbs,” said Chul Soon in an interview with Barcroft TV. “Now that I am much bigger, people treat me with more respect. They call me the ‘Asian Sensation’, ‘Asian Pride’, and the ‘Asian Arnold'” added Soon. While weight loss transformation stories inspire many, Chul Soon’s transformation has also inspired many aspiring bodybuilders.

The diet of a champion

The Korean bodybuilder follows a strict diet to keep himself in shape. Soon follows a high-protein diet to maintain his muscle mass while avoiding putting on unwanted fat. Chicken breast, brown rice, bananas, supplements, and protein shakes are some of the bodybuilder’s favorite foods.

In another interview with Barcroft TV, Chul Soon claimed he could eat over 3 lb of chicken if required. The Asian bodybuilding star also isn’t afraid to put some chicken in his smoothies, either. Hwang Chul Soon’s smoothie contains cooked chicken, bananas, and orange juice.
