4x Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler is one of the sharpest minds to have walked on the bodybuilding stage. Cutler is the exact opposite of “all muscles, no brain.” Along with being an exceptional bodybuilder, Cutler has also proved himself as an incredible businessman. Owing to his phenomenal entrepreneurial skills, Cutler’s current net worth is estimated to be around $30 million.

However, Mr. Fourth Quarter wasn’t born with a silver spoon. He worked hard to make money and then wisely invested his hard-earned money. While online/remote businesses are a norm these days, Cutler did so at a time when it was uncommon. In a podcast interview in 2022, Cutler gave a detailed account of how it all started for him as an entrepreneur.

In October 2022, Jay Cutler appeared on the podcast, “The Iced Coffee Hour.” In the podcast, Cutler revealed that in 1995, after landing his first sponsorship and magazine cover, Cutler gained an international fan following. He started receiving fan mail from around the world. This gave rise to a business idea in Cutler’s mind. Recalling his actions, Cutler said, “I started a mail order, and it’s kind of comical; I would sell one picture of myself and one t-shirt. And people would send me money orders and checks and I started kind of my business at that point. Every week I was getting individual money from basically a nobody.”

Cutler continued, “You know, I was a guy that maybe had a couple of pictures in a magazine…and that’s kind of how I started my entrepreneurship.” The pictures were priced at $10, whereas the shirts cost “20 bucks.” Cutler appropriated his total income, at that time from these sales and his contract, to be around $100k.

Furthermore, Cutler shared how those thousand-dollar sales turned into a million after he moved to Las Vegas. “I was selling t-shirts out of my garage when no one was doing T-shirts, and making a million bucks a year just on T-shirt sales,” recalled the former Mr. Olympia. Apart from his praise-worthy entrepreneurial skills, Jay Cutler also has a keen investing sense.

Recently, on the podcast, “Straight Outta The Lair” with Flex Lewis, Cutler shed light on how he turned his few hundred thousand dollars, prize money from competitions, into millions.
