In his podcast, the bodybuilding legend got candid about changing his coach mid-journey. This was a huge decision for him as he wanted to grow in his career. He talked about how he switched from coach Chris Aceto to Hany Rambod.
Jay Cutler needed a career boost
While the bodybuilder had some amazing wins, he lost in 2008. During that time, he got in touch with Hany Rambod, a bodybuilding coach. Although the icon had already been training under coach Chris Aceto, he decided to take a big step and switch trainers. The decision wasn’t easy, but according to Cutler, it wasn’t planned either.
Cutler mentioned that he approached Hany asking to review his form and build. This eventually led the duo to work alongside each other. Talking about his decision to change coaches, Jay Cutler justified “When I had to make that switch, you know, it was kind of like, I was kind of in dire straits where I really really needed a career boost and that’s why I switched to Hany”.

Although the decision was not easy, the legendary bodybuilder bloomed under Hany Rambod. The coach set him up with a new diet that helped him train better. The bodybuilder listened to his fans and worked toward a physique that suited him better. He eventually went on to win Mr. Olympia in 2009 and 2010.

In order to grow, it is important to get out of one’s comfort zone and change up the routine. Jay Cutler understood this when he made the career-changing shift from one coach to another. The icon not only put himself through major change but also got out of his comfort zone. While he had no ill feelings for his previous trainer, change was necessary for him to grow. This helped him win the title.
