It is heartening to watch when two personalities from the same sport come together to spend their lives together. The same happened when Chris Bumstead, the bodybuilding beast and reigning Mr. Olympia, and Courtney King, the former IFBB Professional Bikini Competitor, decided to spend their lives together after dating for four years. Bumstead and King met when King was asked to do a video by Gymshark wishing two Olympia competitors the best of luck back in 2018.

Chris Bumstead was one of these competitors, and not a surprise, Bumstead caught Courtney’s eye. Bumstead did not win the title that year because of some health issues, but he definitely won over Courtney King’s heart. In a video she uploaded on her YouTube channel, she says, “He seemed very like, just like a very family-oriented amazing human.”
How Chris Bumstead and Courtney King met?
When Cbum lost the 2018 Olympia title, he was heartbroken. But instead of shutting himself off, he shared his vulnerability with his fans and discussed all his problems and issues with his fans openly on his social media. This is what really attracted King to him.
She says, “He was very like vulnerable and open on his social media. He put up a video on YouTube of him crying and explaining kind of like what he went through. And, umm, I was like Oh my gosh this guy is like so freakin’ like sweet and like, humble.”
She was crushing on the guy hard. But she says she had to slide into Bumstead’s Instagram DMs thrice before he gave her any attention. And the rest, as they say, is history.
How Bumstead proposed King?
In an adorable video, Courtney King and Chris Bumstead revealed their fans how the two got engaged. According to Courtney King, it was a complete surprise, as she did not even have one iota of an inkling that Bumstead was going to get on his knees.

In the caption, he wrote, “The most nervous and happiest I have been in the span of 30 seconds. Love you always.”

Bumstead took King for a staycation in Sedona, and that is where he proposed to his partner. He was smart enough to throw King off the scent by saying things like, “We love each other… what does a ring have to do with it? What does a wedding have to do with it?”
