Matthew Grimshaw is a 40-year-old guy from Chorley in England. Mathew’s classmates bullied him for being skinny when he was a kid. So the “Skinny lad from Chorley” took up bodybuilding to fit in. However, he didn’t know that bodybuilding would become a lifelong passion. Matthew has trained at Pasquill’s Gym in Chorley for the past 27 years.

After making his debut in 2009, Grimshaw continued participating in natural bodybuilding shows. However, Matthew’s 2022 season has exceeded all expectations. After winning three world titles, Matthew also raised nearly $1700 for a noble cause.

Winning world titles and raising money for charity

Matthew Grimshaw is an online coach who works as an ASC Timber Supplies store manager. However, Mathew has competed in various shows over the years. Earlier this year, in October, the natural bodybuilder won two titles at the British National Bodybuilding Federation British Finals. Mathew walked away with the Masters Over 40s British Champion and Overall Masters British Champion.

After winning the overall title, the bodybuilder got an invitation to the DFAC World Finals. However, Grimshaw didn’t have the required $3600 to travel and participate in the finals. Grimshaw’s partner set up a GoFundMe for the natural bodybuilder, and Grimshaw managed to raise the money.

On November 5, Grimshaw participated in the DFAC World Finals bodybuilding show. While Grimshaw wanted to give it his best shot, he had no idea he would win three titles. “No words can even describe this. An unexpected entry into middleweight and an even more unexpected win. I can’t even comprehend.” said Matthew. He didn’t have to spend the full $3600, either.

Per Lancashire Post, Grimshaw will donate the money to Derian House Children’s Hospice. The hospice provides end-of-life care for over 450 children. However, the institute depends on public funding to raise the annual service cost of nearly $68,92000. The government sponsor’s only 17% of the service cost.

Matthew’s future in bodybuilding

Matthew plans to take some time off from bodybuilding. The champion bodybuilder wants to focus on strengthening his online-coaching base. Now the world champion wants to help others to become world champions like him. However, he is not about to give up on bodybuilding anytime soon.

In fact, Grimshaw wants to participate in a couple’s bodybuilding with his partner sometime in the future. Did you find Matthew Grimshaw’s story inspirational? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
