Frank Zane dominated the late 70s in the bodybuilding arena. With his meticulous physique, and unmatched body aesthetics, the three-time Mr. Olympia (1977-1979) is famous for his symmetry and volume. At 80, when he looks back at those days, Zane feels that he gave his best.

Recently, the bodybuilding icon appeared in a video with Mike O’Hearn and talked about his views on the latter’s ability to sustain his incredible form well into his 50s. Reflecting on his own practices, the old-school demigod was reminded of his stride in the sport.

Recently, the Generation Iron Fitness & Bodybuilding Network shared a video featuring Zane and O’Hearn. Together they looked back at the old days. Referring to the portraits in his home, Zane exclaimed, “You know that’s all you have in the end…because the body fades.” The legend shared that he did the best he could ever do to become one of the most respected bodybuilders.

Nevertheless, as their conversation continued, the former Mr. Olympia pointed to O’Hearn and appreciated his form. “Mike you’re 52 or 53…well you’re doing great for that age. I was in decent shape in my early 50s too. But the older you get, the harder it gets, and the less motivated I was to keep doing it because there’s no good reason to keep up,” implied Zane.

In fact, the IFBB pro went on to say he was 41 when he last competed on a stage in 1983. He eventually lost that motivation and thought of retiring by then. O’Hearn too agreed with Zane and stated that with time and age, the enthusiasm may subside, rendering it difficult to continue. However, the 80-year-old virtuoso feels O’Hearn still has the passion which reflects in his physique.

Zane, a multiple title holder, frequently does one-on-one sessions with talented individuals. He once shared that Mike trained with him and revealed, “He’s [Mike] publicized some stuff, and he’s probably… could be the next big thing in bodybuilding if he chooses to do so.”

In fact, addressing his age the former Mr. Universe shared, “He’s right on top of the world. He’s.. I think 275 pounds. He’s 6’2. He’s huge.” Zane certainly has some good impressions about O’Hearn’s physique.
