It shocked a majority of the bodybuilding world when the results of Mr. Olympia 2022 were announced. The fans weren’t the only ones who expected Big Ramy to win for the third time in a row. Veterans like Jay Cutler and Arnold Schwarzenegger predicted it too. However, all predictions failed when Hadi Choopan came out as the victor and Ramy tumbled down to the fifth spot.
Recently, Cutler went through the results of the biggest bodybuilding contest with Milos Sarcev. Upon in-depth analysis, he pointed out the areas where Ramy lacked this time around. However, even after the shocking turn of events, Cutler thinks Ramy isn’t too far gone and still believes that Ramy has the potential of taking back his title next year. But, it won’t be as easy as everyone thought this year.

Jay Cutler details what went wrong with Ramy
Jay Cutler expressed how disappointed he was with Ramy. “We were all wrong about Ramy. Ramy did not produce like we expected,” said Mr. Fourth Quarter in Cutler Cast‘s 55th episode. Cutler stretched that everyone expected Ramy to hit that hat trick.
Sarcev pointed out that before the competition, Cutler had his doubts because of Ramy’s back issues. But, ultimately, he did put his faith in the Egyptian bodybuilder, since the injury didn’t stop Ramy from winning in the previous years. Sarcev said that while the judges had overlooked the issue last year, no one expected them to penalize him for it this year.
Cutler blamed Ramy’s lats and back for his downfall. He said, “The lats obviously, but I thought the biggest issue with Ramy was number one, his condition, but more importantly, he couldn’t open up his back. What was going on with the back?” To this, Sarcev agreed that Ramy’s back was the major issue.

Well, Jay Cutler isn’t the only senior who believes Ramy can still make a comeback. Legendary bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger thinks so too. According to Schwarzenegger, all Ramy needs to do is cut down on the extra weight, tone his calves and work on his poses. Perfecting these three things can get him the title back.
He shared that Ramy should keep in mind symmetry and aesthetics, too. He shouldn’t just focus on getting bigger. “Big Ramy… could have won again. I mean all he had to do was just stay the same way he was… Decrease his waist by one inch and increase his calves by one inch. That’s all he had to do all year long and he would have won again,” added the 7x Mr. Olympia in an interview with Nick’s Strength and Power host.
