With just two more days to go before the commencement of the mega-bodybuilding event, the excitement is exceptionally high. The 58th Mr. Olympia will be organized from 15th to 18th December, in Las Vegas. Bodybuilders with extraordinary physiques will be competing for titles in different categories. However, the eyes remain on the most popular category, the open category, among all others. Can Big Ramy take yet another step closer to Ronnie Coleman’s achievement?

Will we see a new champion in the open category this year? Or will the two-time consecutive Mr. Olympia winner, Mamdouh ‘Big Ramy’ Elssbiay will again steal the show? To evaluate his preparation this year, let’s compare his body measurements with the all-time great Ronnie Coleman.

Body measurements: Big Ramy VS. Ronnie Coleman

On one hand, Ramy has won two consecutive titles, and Ronnie Coleman on the other hand is a legend who won eight-consecutive Mr. Olympia titles in his career. He remains one of the most dominant bodybuilders ever. Similarly, if Ramy can beat or come close to Coleman’s body measurements at his peak, Ramy might stand a chance to win his third consecutive title.

Let’s see Ronnie’s measurements, which will be the standard ones in this case. Ronnie Coleman weighed over 310 lbs and was 5’11” tall. Moving on, he had a massive chest of 58″, followed by giant 24″ biceps with a 36″ waist. These astounding measurements made him the biggest bodybuilder of his time.

Now coming to the current champion, Big Ramy stands 5’9″ tall while weighing 295-310lbs. Ramy has an enormous 54” chest, classic 24″ biceps, and a 36″ waist. Numerically, Ronnie Coleman looks slightly ahead of Big Ramy. However, neither Coleman is competing in 2022, nor someone else that big. Even though it is difficult to predict anything, for now, Big Ramy stands a chance to retain his title.

The pressure of being the reigning champion

Being a champion is certainly an enormous honor. However, with the title comes the responsibility to elevate the performance. Big Ramy is more than aware of his duty toward his fans. In a recent chat with the 7x Mr. Olympia, Phil Heath, Ramy opened up.

Ramy confessed the responsibility he takes on his shoulders with every win. Moreover, he revealed how hard he works to look better than the previous competitions to prove his worth of being the title holder. He disclosed he will be looking to go into the competition with a weight of 265 lbs and present strong contention once again.
