In the recent edition of his daily newsletter, Arnold’s Pump Club, the former athlete shed light on the importance of strength training. Moreover, an intriguing juxtaposition with smoking cigarettes was made, vividly highlighting the increase in life longevity simply through greater strength. 

The bodybuilding legend’s claims were substantiated by a study reference, encircling over 400,000 subjects that have been examined for 20 years. The primary motive of the research was to find out what really aided life span increase.

Several reports assert that there’s nothing worse than sm*king cigarettes. It significantly decreases the life span, in addition to serving as a carcinogenic factor. However, in the newsletter, the 75-year-old legend seeks to propose a substitute for quitting the habit. Arnold Schwarzenegger offers an alternative “Better than quitting sm*king” to live longer,” the title read.

The source stated that in order to “live a longer life,” there is one aspect that cannot be dismissed to spark change in one’s life. “it’s becoming harder and harder to deny the one thing that will make the biggest difference in your life…While cold tubs, fasting, and supplements get all the headlines, more strength is the real fountain of youth,” it said.

As evidence, the Austrian Oak presented a recent study based on thousands of adults for nearly two decades. It focused on the analytical calculations of the theory. The researchers were interested in the factors influencing life longevity, thus, they curbed all the usual factors which decrease the years of living. These included diabetes, heart disease, or cancer, and observed the desired behaviors.

According to the source, it was founded that just 1 hour of aerobic exercise done weekly could minimize the mortality risks by 15 percent. If the time period is increased to 3 hours, then a total 27 percent deduction can be observed. However, the greatest deduction occurs when “you add strength training.”

“Those who added resistance training one or two times per week saw a 40 percent reduction in mortality risk,” the source added. Besides the stats, Schwarzenegger explained the subject with an interesting statement. He disclosed, “that’s the same health improvement you’d see between a non-sm*ker and someone who sm*kes half a pack per day.” Yet, even that was not “The craziest part,” it was revealed that only a mere 24 percent of the 415,000 participants prioritized strength training as a part of their routines.
