Mamdouh “Big Ramy” Elssbiay of Egypt, was specially invited by the Olympia organizers for the 2020 Mr. Olympia event. Despite not qualifying for the contest, Big Ramy was invited. The decision, however, received a lot of backlashes. As the bodybuilding enthusiast was of the notion that since he could not win the competition, hence he should not have received the invite.

However, for Big Ramy, the invite was more than just winning titles. The year was tough for him. He had to brave multiple hurdles, and most of the problems that he faced were something that he could hardly control.

Big Ramy shared why he thought that he deserved the 2020 invite

2020 was a challenging year for everyone. As people battled through the pandemic, competitors struggled to stay healthy to ensure their participation. While many secured the win, some missed the mark by an inch. Shedding more light on it, he confessed“Many people don’t know all that happened to me this year.”

He hinted that many people were unaware that before the competition, he tested positive for Covid. Thus he was optimistic that if they knew what had happened, they would also agree with him. Understanding the fan’s perspective, he added, “The fans need to see the best bodybuilders in the world.”

However, bringing the other perspective to the world, he said they were unaware of what happened to him in, “Australia or how he was stuck in Dubai far away from his family for five months.” Being aware of all the hard work, he continued, “I know myself, and I’ve been fighting all my life for the chance to be number one.”

Elssbiay is preparing for the 2022 Olympia title

As the Mr. Olympia 2022 Olympia is fast approaching, fans are excited those their favorite bodybuilder on the stage. Elssbiay, and his trainer Dennis James, recently met with bodybuilding legends, Chris Cormier, and Milos Sarcev, to talk about the Olympia, which is just a few weeks away.

He is the defending champion for this year’s contest. It is needless to say that Big Ramy would be giving them a tough time to his competitors. As competition is approaching, he is getting more active on social media. He is working hard to claim his title for the third time in a row.
