Brandon Curry won the most prestigious title in bodybuilding in 2019. While he has never repeated the feat, fans have praised Curry for his aesthetic physique and consistency. Like the 90s bodybuilding legend Flex Wheeler, Brandon Curry has also focused on preserving the symmetry and balance of his body. In his latest Instagram post, the former Mr. Olympia uploaded a video shot in November 2022. The former champ said his physique reminded him of the 90s bodybuilding icon.

While most bodybuilders in the men’s open category continue to chase muscle mass over symmetry and conditioning, the Arnold Classic winner remains the exception. In another Instagram post, Curry said he wouldn’t defy his “genetic makeup” to put on size. In his latest post, Curry also did some introspection.
Brandon Curry reflects on his pre-Mr. Olympia physique
The 2019 Mr. Olympia winner uploaded a video shot on November 5, 2022. In the video, the Arnold Classic winner performed a basic posing routine. In the caption, Curry said, “This one makes me think about @officialflexwheeler (Flex Wheeler).” The former Mr. Olympia also said he felt blessed to have a physique like The Sultan of Symmetry. “Not everyone gets the chance in life to enjoy the way they look. As vain as this sounds, it’s obviously human.” wrote Curry.
The bodybuilder also revealed that Flex Wheeler once referred to Curry as “Soul Brother #1.” Even decades after retirement, many fans believe Flex Wheeler was the most aesthetic men’s open bodybuilder in history. Like Flex Wheeler, the former Mr. Olympia’s goal was never to become the biggest bodybuilder on stage. Curry knew his physique would lose its appeal if he sacrificed symmetry and balance for muscle mass.
While he has not won the Mr. Olympia title a second time, Curry’s approach has paid off. Despite the massive shuffle in placing at the 2022 Mr. Olympia, which saw defending champion Big Ramy fall to fifth place, Curry retained his top-five spot, finishing in fourth place.
Bodybuilding beast Michal Krizo also praised Curry
Even fellow competitors have praised Brandon Curry for his aesthetic physique. Slovakian bodybuilding beast Michal Krizo was among the most talked about Mr. Olympia debutants last year. While Krizo didn’t crack the top ten, fans are excited about Krizo’s prospects. In a recent video, Krizo admired Curry’s physique and said he deserved to place higher than fourth.
