‘Pumping Iron’ is a docu-drama from the 1970s featuring two stars, Lou Ferrigno and Arnold Schwarzenegger, apart from other bodybuilders. The movie was focused on the two major bodybuilding competitions at that time – Mr. Olympia and Mr. Universe. Lou and Arnold were showcased as major rivals in the movie, and the piece of fiction might be closer to the truth.
In an interview, Lou talked about the movie and what story it portrayed. However, he made sure to clear up something that he felt at the time. Just like in the movie, Lou thought that he was the underdog at that time as well. However, he also had some thoughts about Arnold. He revealed, “I was like the underdog, Arnold at the time was arrogant”. According to the legend, just like in the movie, Arnold was a king while he was more of an underdog in the bodybuilding world. This revelation puts a lot into perspective in terms of the movie.
