Arnold Schwarzenegger established life as grand as his name. Although there is hardly anybody who doesn’t know the legend, it is indeed challenging to get a grasp of the name at first glance. Katherine, his first-born too, did face her share of struggles with the name.

It is rightly said that Schwarzenegger is not a name but a brand. As a budding actor, his last name was perceived as an impediment by many, as it sounded complex and difficult to pronounce. The prediction would have translated into reality had it been for anyone else but the Austrian Oak. Despite being a proud daughter of the Terminator star, she admitted the challenges she confronted due to her last name.

Katherine Schwarzenegger took a long time to figure out her last name

In an interview in 2019, Schwarzenegger’s elder daughter opened up on an interesting question about her last name. “What age were you by the time you figured out how to spell your last name?” the host asked. Unfazed by the question, she confessed that “it took a really long time.”

Furthermore, the NYT Best-selling author shared how she managed to complete her elementary school without knowing the spelling. “I went by S my whole elementary school.” Katherine said. Although she didn’t need to learn how to spell it, she figured it out eventually. Also, she described her as “high-aged” probably in her 6th grade when she figured it out.

The host pointed out the fact that there are a lot of letters in the name and Katherine couldn’t agree more when she stated, “It’s very complicated.” The story doesn’t end here. She encountered unique situations in her college as a result of her name.

In 2011, Katherine gave a hilarious account of a few scenes in her college life. “It’s something I deal with every day, and I am hyperconscious about it,” she said. Guys would go to the former bodybuilding champion’s daughter and “would automatically jump to a conversation about my dad and weightlifting.”

That annoyed Katherine, as conveyed in the response she gave them, “Do you want to date my father or do you want to date me? Like, I can arrange that for you.” While it’s unfair to not empathize with Katherine, to a common man, especially an Arnold fan, ‘Schwarzenegger’ is not a name but an emotion.
