Most people tend to take advice from experts when they are in a fix. Oftentimes, they work out for the better. But there are numerous instances when the suggestions of such experts have backfired. Which movie did the agent of Arnold Schwarzenegger advise against?
The movie in question is the one with which the bodybuilder-turned-actor is associated to this day. Yes, it is none other than ‘The Terminator’. But landing the role came with its own set of challenges.
For one, his then-agent was not enthusiastic about Schwarzenegger saying yes to the role. The agent believed that movie would be a box office bomb. And as such, it would ruin the Austrian Oak’s future in the industry.
If reports are to go by, the former governor was not thrilled about the role either. But the star went for it, and it turned out to be one of the biggest films of his life. Even that is an understatement considering it made Arnold the star people recognize today.
Had it not for this film, people would still be associating him with his former glory days in bodybuilding. However, the actor defied the words of his agent and listened to his heart. And in doing so, he eclipsed all other stars in the genre.
The initial acting career of Schwarzenegger
When Schwarzenegger retired for the final time from bodybuilding after winning the Mr. Olympia contest in 1980, he expressed his desire to act in movies. Previously, he had worked in a film called “Hercules in New York.” The movie featured a young Arnold in his debut appearance.

However, the movie failed to make a mark in the theaters. Moreover, it did not capture the imagination of the masses. Not in the way his next feature film, “Conan the Barbarian,” would do at the box office. The film became a massive success upon its release and garnered a cult following that continues to this day.
But the movie that made Schwarzenegger the star we know today was the first installation of the Terminator franchise. The film came out in 1984, and “The Terminator” soon became synonymous with the genre of action films.
