Coming from Austria, Schwarzenegger started his career from scratch, and became one of the most recognizable faces in America. He truly serves as an inspiration to those dreaming of a big future. One of them appears to be Mexican actor Sergio Mayer.
Arnold Schwarzenegger has set a precedent
Mayer believes that a person’s work before their political career shouldn’t be held against them. The perfect example he presented for this concept turned out to be the Terminator star, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Notably, Schwarzenegger served as the governor of California for seven years between 2003 and 2011.
When a reporter from TV Azteca’s “Venga la Alegría” program questioned Mayer about how he envisioned himself as president or governor, he responded, “Of course I visualize myself, I decree it, I think about it and I continue working for it.”
“The fact of being an actor does not minimize you, nor does it take away the possibility of doing things well. Arnold Schwarzenegger was governor of the most important state that was California,” said Mayer.
Inspired by the bodybuilder, the Mexican actor has established his interest in the Mexican presidency for the 2024 elections.
Mexican actor, singer, producer, and politician, Sergio Mayer has decided to take his political career to new heights. Serving as a federal deputy between 2018 to 2021, Mayer returned to show business. But now, he has decided that he wants to be a governor, perhaps even the President of Mexico.
Schwarzenegger’s work as the governor of California
On August 6, 2003, Arnold Schwarzenegger announced his candidacy in the 2003 California recall election. He won the governorship at the recall of Gray Davis. The Hollywood superstar got re-elected in 2006 as the 38th Governor of California.

During his term, Schwarzenegger focused on reducing California’s greenhouse gas emissions, increasing the minimum wage, and updating the workers’ compensation system. He was also a proponent of physical education and after-school programs and supported the After-School Education & Safety Act, which passed in 2002.

The bodybuilder donated his entire salary as the governor to charitable causes, about $187,000 annually, and lost out on millions of dollars by putting his acting career on hold. But he remains a staunch believer in giving back to the community. Schwarzenegger has remained outspoken about political opinions even after the end of his term.
