Arnold Schwarzenegger Used His Worst Hollywood Mistake to Keep His Children’s Behavior in Control; Revealed in 2019

Over the years, Arnold Schwarzenegger has entertained people with his blockbuster movies. From Terminator to Predator, the star has aced all of his roles. However, every actor has some work that they are not proud of. For Schwarzenegger, that was the movie, Red Sonja.

Amidst a series of hits and creating iconic characters, Red Sonja stood out like a sore thumb for the former bodybuilder. Whether he truly signed up for it or not is up for debate, but the star was always vocal about his dislike for the movie right from the beginning. In his memoirs, Schwarzenegger openly expressed his disgust for the film.

Red Sonja was partially based on a superhero character created by Robert E. Howard which was a sort of a spinoff of Conan. However, things went downhill when the movie flopped. From the characters to the storyline – the audience found a lot lacking in the feature film. But nothing hits harder for the core film team than the protagonist criticizing his own movie and making fun of it.

Schwarzenegger despised the movie. He was open about how poorly it was made and often made fun of it. The star called it the worst movie he ever made and used it as a unique and hilarious way of punishment. He once spoke about how he used Red Sonja to discipline his kids.

He remembered how he would threaten his children if they weren’t behaving properly. He exclaimed in a 2019 interview, “Now when my kids get out of line, they’re sent to their room and forced to watch Red Sonja 10 times.” However, the trick worked since his children never bothered him.

Red Sonja wasn’t lucky for Arnold in terms of accidents

The shoot for Red Sonja didn’t go smoothly either. During one of the rehearsals, where Schwarzenegger was practicing riding a horse, he had an accident. While the star was good with horses, this one time, the forces of nature played against him.

It turns out that when Schwarzenegger was riding, the horse slipped over wet mud and toppled over the star in the process. However, the horse also lost balance and fell over him.
