The former bodybuilder gave a heartwarming tribute to his mother through a post on Instagram. Staying true to the festivities, Schwarzenegger shared a photo of his mother standing next to the Christmas tree. Arnold Schwarzenegger had a unique Christmas tradition
In the photo, Schwarzenegger’s mother, Aurelia Schwarzenegger, was standing next to an unusual. In the caption below, the star reminisced about how he used to spend Christmas with his family. However, unlike modern-day decorations on a Christmas tree, the tree in the photo had unique and hazardous ornaments all over it. The star wrote, “Those are real candles hanging on the tree!”.

Looks like the Terminator always loved to live on the edge. Even during the holiday season! Real candles were lit on the Christmas tree , alongside various baubles and ornaments. As mama Schwarzenegger posed next to the tree, fans couldn’t help but comment on the fire hazard potential of the tree. Nevertheless, the mood was festive and the star seemed happy upon stumbling across the old photo.
Hanging real candles on a Christmas tree was a common tradition among Germans back then. Since Schwarzenegger and his family belonged to Austria, they religiously followed the tradition. It originated in the 17th century and is sometimes followed even today!
Arnold’s Christmas tradition
The former bodybuilder has lived a life of abundance. A major driving force for him is his desire to give back to the community whenever he can. Recently, he collaborated with Hollenbeck Youth Center to give away Christmas gifts.
The actor spent some time interacting with fans and giving away toys to children. His idea was to make Christmas a bit better for those who can’t afford to celebrate. Fans have always appreciated the star’s philanthropic side and he continues to give back as much as he can.
