However, there is a person whom the bodybuilder-turned-actor considered his friend, but had a fall out with later.

The person in question is none other than former president Donald Trump. Although people associate the two with their famous Twitter feud, Schwarzenegger accepts they were once friends.

Additionally, the Austrian Oak acknowledged that Trump approached him when he ran for Governor of California. He wanted to help him with financial aid for his campaign. The star revealed the incident during an interview with Shawn Hubler in 2021.

Recollecting the events, Arnold Schwarzenegger said, “Donald was an old friend. He was one of the first ones to come and support me when I ran for governor.”

But the former governor was adamant about his resolve, that is, not to take financial help from the real estate tycoon. The Terminator star had a valid reason for this decision. It reflects clearly on what Arnold said next on the matter.

”I didn’t accept his money because he was with the gaming industry, and we didn’t accept any gaming money,” added the actor.

However, there is an instance that served as the final nail in the coffin in their friendship. That memory lives vividly in Arnold’s mind. He decided against supporting Trump in his presidential campaign after listening to the former president’s regressive views on fossil fuels.

Reflecting his opinions on the matter, Schwarzenegger said, “I did not endorse him or help him with his campaign because of his environmental stands.”

Schwarzenegger’s views on environmental issues

The world saw the former bodybuilder become vocal about environmental issues after becoming the Governor of California in 2003. However, he has maintained this stance on environmental issues ever since.

He has also voiced his opinion on related topics during various summits. The issues that he prominently voiced his concerns on includes the significance of clean air and renewable energy. And the actor has continued to do so even after serving his second term as governor in 2011.
