Arnold Schwarzenegger was a visionary as a bodybuilder. He imagined how he wanted his body to be similar to a sculptor to chisel a spectacular image. In addition to visualizing and experiencing the ecstasy of bodybuilding, he popularised the sport with inspiring elucidations among both men and women.

The Austrian Oak developed a passion for the sport in his teenage and had a clear goal–to become the greatest bodybuilder ever. Schwarzenegger moved to the U.S. in 1968. He trained hard to build an impressive physique to meet the list of contest criteria. Besides, he grasped the mind-muscle connection and how bodybuilding impacts overall well-being. In a 1977 interview, the 7 x Mr. Olympia gave insights into how bodybuilding can benefit women, although it isn’t similar to men.

Arnold Schwarzenegger said bodybuilding is not gender specific

Initially, bodybuilding was a sport for men. The gym was an abode for men’s bodybuilding. In the 1977 interview, the champion gave an unprecedented take on the sport, which intrigued the female host to ask, “Is it the kind of thing that I could do?”

“Any person can do it,” the former bodybuilding legend replied. He continued it makes no difference whether it’s a man or a woman. That said, he explained the changes between the two. “A woman does not get muscles like a man because they have not the male hormones. Therefore, their body will get firm but not the muscle.”

Describing the joy of building muscle as a “feeling which is hard to explain,” the Pumping Iron star said the mind is right in the muscle. It’s right when they say – as you think, so shall it happen. “That’s the only way to do it.” And the body and mind work perfectly together.

Bodybuilding has been proven to increase flexibility and improve strength. What appears as superhuman and unbelievable is an effort of pumping iron. The bodybuilding legend said pumping up fills the muscle with oxygenated blood.

“It is concentration, timing, and exertion in a precise workout.” That said, he warned that it hurts to get there. “But once you are there, they say, the sensation is almost incomparable. For me pumping up in a gym, having a good workout, is you know is the same thing like having se*,” added Arnold.
