The debate on how to fight aging, or at least slow it down, has been going on for quite some time. Different eminent personalities, including famous bodybuilders like Rich Gaspari, have shared their anti-aging formulas. However, Arnold Schwarzenegger does not believe in finding a way to fight aging or slow it down. Instead, his focus is on methods and practices that lead to longer life span.

Arnold Schwarzenegger shares a Daily dose of fitness and knowledge through his newsletter, The Pump Daily. In the latest update of this newsletter, Schwarzenegger shed light on five behaviors that help elongate the life span. He supported his claims with scientific research. Arnie believes these methods can add up to 13 years to a person’s life.

On 20th February 2023, Arnold Schwarzenegger released another update to his newsletter. This update was titled, “How to add 13 years to your life.” The newsletter was divided into three sections. The first section was the “Monday motivation with Arnold.” In the second one, he shared the secrets to a longer life. The last section contained the workout of the week. Schwarzenegger shared that the business of extending lifespan has turned into a billion-dollar industry. However, none of the methods they use are proven. They are merely hypothetical.

However, the methods Schwarzenegger suggested have been scientifically proven to be able to add up to 13 years to one’s life. These methods are cost-effective as well. These included no smoking and low alcohol intake. Minimum half an hour of physical activity every day. Eating a diet that contains vegetables, fruits, fiber, and lean proteins. And lastly, maintaining a healthy BMI.

Research has shown that men who incorporated these practices in their lives lived 12 years longer. For women, the period was 14 years. Furthermore, Schwarzenegger added two more practices from his side. They included “more sleep and better social connection.” The newsletter further read, “Add up those 7 behaviors, and there’s nothing stopping you from adding more than a decade to your life. As Arnold says, build habits that make it easier to repeatedly do those behaviors, and you’ll be unstoppable.” This isn’t the first time Arine has stressed the benefits of sleep.

Good sleep is the key

In another newsletter update, released on 10th February 2023, Schwarzenegger revealed the magic of an extra hour of sleep. He disclosed that along with a relaxed body, adding an extra hour to the sleep cycle induces healthy eating habits.

Furthermore, Schwarzenegger claims it reduces hunger and restricts the craving for high-calorie foods. He added that sleep deprivation plays a big role in the “hunger, craving, and caloric intake” of a person. Arnie urged his readers to focus on getting one more hour of sleep. He also asked them to make sure that the total number of sleeping hours isn’t less than 7.5 hours per day.
