By the same token, Heath recently shared an informative post by his medical expert, highlighting the advantages of animal proteins over plants, contrary to popular opinion.

The facts were primarily posted by Dr. Gabrielle Lyon, founder of the Institute of Muscle-Centric Medicine. Through her study, the athlete aimed to bust a crucial bodybuilding misconception and lauded her effort with a brief note.

As the source revealed, it is widely believed, that plant protein sources are highly efficient and also don’t harm animals. Therefore, a win-win situation for all. However, the seven-time Mr. Olympia and his doctor have a different stance on the matter. “Animal-based products provide high-quality, nutrient-dense sources of protein,” a part of the elaborate caption read.

Moreover, it stated that animal proteins have an average protein percentage with lower calories in comparison to plant proteins. The latter sustains a greater amount of calories for the same protein composition. Taking the instance of steak and quinoa seeds, both have 25g of protein however their protein percentage have a stark difference; 173 calories for steak and 666 calories for the plant-based source, the caption detailed.

“My Doc @drgabriellelyon always on point!” the 43-year-old icon chipped in on his story. Lyon, aware of the probability of facing a backlash, remarked, “Surprisingly, this post will be controversial.” And so was the case in the comments, with many supporting and refuting her claims. Her logic behind the post was to prioritize science and facts over perspectives and social concerns. The champion is synonymous with debunking a whole range of myths in the sport’s domain. Likewise, he once pointed out the significance of body fat.

Talking to sources in an interview, the star athlete once shared his expert diet regimen. Shedding light on his off-season goals, Heath revealed that he intends to maintain his shredded physique throughout the year, and not just ahead of competitions. 

Then following up on his support for body fat, he shared, “When I’m too heavy, I just feel slow and lethargic. A little body fat is a good thing for the extra energy it gives you in the gym.” Though, he clarified that rising above a certain amount of fat makes him feel like “a slob.”
