The Mr. Olympia Classic Physique Champion, Chirs Bumstead, and his physique have a separate fanbase in the bodybuilding world. Chris Bumstead has been ruling the division for four years now. His popularity among the fans has left even the new-age bodybuilders of the Open’s division behind. The 90s and better parts of the 2000s have witnessed only mass monsters like Ronnie Coleman and Jay Cutler taking the lead in the Opens division. However, with the success of bodybuilders like Samson Dauda and Andrew Jacked, the wave of change can be seen. With the preference shifting back to aesthetics and beauty, it looks like the Frank Zane era of bodybuilding will soon make a comeback.

Veteran bodybuilder, Kevin Levrone, believes Chirs Bumstead is the reason behind the shift. In his recent interview, 2x Arnold Classic champion shared his insights on Bumstead’s impact on the bodybuilding world.

Recently, Kevin Levrone released episode three of the 8th season of The Levrone Report. In this episode, he sat down for a chat with Muscle Development’s editor, Ron Harris. The agenda for their discussion was “A return to Aesthetics?” Harris commented that the sport seems to be swinging towards aesthetics in recent times. He then asked what impression Levrone has of the situation.

To this, the uncrowned king of Mr. Olympia said, “Well, I think it’s because of Chris Bumstead and how great he looks. And we’re able to compare him to you know, as far as the photos, not as far as being there on stage, but we were able to compare them at the Olympia, you know, those Classic Physique guys too.”

He continued, “The way that Mr. Olympia in the Open is going – I think the judges like I said, the judges rewarded the best athletes to place where they placed for the Arnold Classic.”

Bumstead has undoubtedly become a dominant force in the industry. His impact is such that the bodybuilding world wants to see the unbeatable CBum compete in the Opens division. Though hesitant at first, Cbum is ready to give it a shot but on his own terms.

What will it take for Chris Bumstead to compete in Men’s Open?

Though Bumstead has been open to the idea of giving it a try, he’ll not do so at the cost of his body. Cbum claims he’ll never push his body to prepare Mr. Olympia. He might step on the open stage for fun but would never chase the title.

Another condition is that he’ll not do so during the Olympia. Rather, it’ll be during the Arnold Classic. But that, too, will happen only if the event is moved up to 2-3 weeks after the Olympia weekend. While it is nearly impossible to meet all of CBum’s conditions, the chances of ever seeing him on the Open stage are staggeringly low.
