Gyms are a great place to elevate your fitness and mood. It is also a place where people advise, support, and push each other to get better. Often, we expect young people to work out in a gym, or even some older people who have been into fitness since their youth. But have you ever heard someone joining the gym for the first time in their late 80s? The Auburn CrossFit in Auburn, California, has a unique story to tell to the world. A 93-year-old Annie Holmes, A.K.A. Super Annie, became a member of the Auburn CrossFit at 89.

She is extremely loved in the gym, and vice-versa is also true. But what made her take this decision? Moreover, what inspires her to work out at this age? Let us find out what she said about her fitness journey.

The 93-year-old reveals why she works out

Generally, when you hear about a 93-year-old woman, what will be your first thought about her? It will certainly not be that she goes to the gym to train. But Super Annie does exactly the same. When asked about the beginning of the journey, she replied, “Everyone welcomed me. It makes you want to stay — and I did.” 

And the result of that commitment is that she has developed incredible strength for a 93-year-old. She can get down on the floor and then back up without any support. Moreover, she can do jumping jacks and squat to full depth.

While talking with CrossFit, Super Annie said, “I just (fell) in love with the way my body was changing, that I was finding muscles I never had.”
