Schwarzenegger supported this fitness mantra with research conducted on more than 47,000 individuals over seven years, which studied the correlation between step count and mortality. Moreover, the Austrian native wrote, “Growing up in Europe, walking is totally normal once you finish a meal.” Furthermore, Schwarzenegger shared a magic number.
Walking 7000-9000 steps a day can be one’s best lifeline. Besides, he also pointed out that daily progress, however small, will impact one’s lifespan. An addition of 2000 steps per day, i.e., 10-15 minutes of walking more than the lowest amount of 3500 steps, “can reduce all-cause mortality by an extra 40%.”
