Changes in the body cannot deter the will to work out. However, being pregnant is a different journey altogether. Many athletes like Tia-Clair Toomey have proven that striking a balance between taking necessary breaks from the gym and eventually returning to resume again will do the trick when it comes to fitness. The Australian weightlifter and CrossFit Games champion recently announced her pregnancy on social media. However, nothing stooped the new mama from sweating it out in the gym.

While Toomey may have pulled out from the upcoming CrossFit Games, she’s still training hard in the gym. In a recent YouTube video, the champion got back to the gym, and with some help, performed some intense workouts. With the help of her husband, her trainer, and her doctor, Toomey devised a plan to keep fit while ensuring that the tiny new member is doing well. Let’s take a look!

Carrying a baby could get challenging eventually. From morning sickness to cravings, the list of discomforts is endless. Yet, everybody has a different capacity, and Toomey seems to have built hers up strongly. The pregnant mama is currently in her second trimester, and motherhood is only getting started for her.

Toomey admitted that her journey through pregnancy was quite weird. At first, she felt drained and ran out of energy quite quickly. Adding to that, the fact that no edibles felt enticing enough to eat, except scrambled eggs. So, her first trimester, and most parts of the second trimester, was her taking her time off, resting up, and eating things that she could stomach. Towards the end, however, a burst of energy came in, and Toomey made a grand comeback at the gym.

What followed was a series of pregnancy-friendly workout sessions in the gym. Toomey immediately got back into weightlifting, along with some biking, a few sets of shoulder-to-overhead, and a few sets on the rowing machine. While in the gym, the athlete also gave an adorable update about the baby’s health so far. “The baby is doing very well. I checked in with the doctor and he was very very happy with the heartbeat and the size… I have literally been loving this entire process”.

While pregnancy could be a different experience for everyone, Toomey seems to be enjoying the process through the ups and downs. Along with her husband, Shane Orr, the CrossFit champion is determined to stay active and make use of the offseason as much as possible. The past few months proved to be a bit too tiring for the athlete, but she made good use of it by resting up and taking a break. Now that she’s back, fans hope to see some more of her in the forthcoming days.
