Jay Cutler is one of the most competitive and persistent bodybuilders in bodybuilding history. 4x Mr. Olympia consistently stood as runner-up four times before eventually winning the title. He dethroned the massive Ronnie Coleman in 2006. Other than that, Cutler also has 3 Arnold Classic titles, and is now an entrepreneur and a podcaster.

Building such massive physiques is nothing simple. It takes years of hard work, consistency, persistence, sacrifices, and much more. Cutler feels bodybuilding certainly needs intense training, but without a proper diet, everything is meaningless. Earlier this year, talking to Michael Sartain, Cutler revealed his preference for diet at 48 when he goes out.

Jay Cutler doesn’t ‘enjoy food to this day’

Jay Cutler had to become enormous in order to beat his biggest rival, Ronnie Coleman. Cutler has revealed he never wanted to get that big, but there’s no other way to beat Ronnie. So, he trained harder than he could; he ate harder than he could. According to Jay, food is everything for a bodybuilder. But the other side of the story is, ” the most disappointing part about what I did for living… I don’t enjoy food to this day.”

Jay continued, “I don’t want to have steak. I’m not a big steak eater at 48 now. I tend to eat some sushi but I’m limited even on that just because I know a lot of sushi rice has a ton of sugar. I might eat some plain fish or whatever else but there’s nothing else that excites me. There’s no food ‘oh does mom cook her special meal when I go back home’ nothing.”

Indeed, food is one of the primary factors in bodybuilding. But, anything in excess is dangerous for the health. For example, excess training and heavy training led to several injuries to the legend, Ronnie Coleman. Similarly, if anyone eats without keeping a count of the calorie intake and calorie burning, they might jump into some serious troubles.

Regarding toxicity, food might result in our bodies. Cutler once said“The food, it’s taxing. The food is the killer. We can talk about drugs, dehydration and everything else. But that’s what kills people is the heart disease.” The lifestyle we live mostly contributes to the causes of heart or cardiovascular diseases. Sensible eating is the first step towards getting one step back from CVDs.
