Lou Ferrigno is a bodybuilding legend who stood out because of his size. The 6’5 ” tall bodybuilder weighed over 250 lbs. During the early 70s, Lou became known as the biggest bodybuilder in the world. Ferrigno was three inches taller than and outweighed Arnold Schwarzenegger. While Lou never won Mr. Olympia, he gave Arnold a run for his money.

“The Incredible Hulk” actor recently posted two rare photos on Instagram from 1993. While he made a bold claim, the bodybuilding world couldn’t deny it.

A bold claim by Lou Ferrigno

The legendary bodybuilder posted photos of himself on Instagram from three decades ago. In the black and white images, Lou’s working out. “42 years old here and the biggest in the sport. 🦾”, wrote Ferrigno in the caption. In 1992, at 41, Lou returned to bodybuilding, and these pictures are from the year after his return.

While Lou made a bold claim, his statement was correct. Dorian Yates had already kicked off the mass monster era by 1993. Yates, who stood at 5’9″ tall, took the sport to a new level in 1992. He competed on stage at around 260 lbs, nearly 20 lbs heavier than the previous champ, Lee Haney. However, Lou overshadowed him on stage.

The 6’5 Ferrigno weighed 315 lbs during the 1992 Mr. Olympia contest. An unheard-of number during the early 90s. Even during his prime, eight-time Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman weighed 300 lbs on stage. While Dorian Yates won the Mr. Olympia contest from 1992 to 1997, Lou made him look small on stage.

The bodybuilding world unanimously agreed with Ferrigno

Lou Ferrigno also had a few inspiring words for his followers. “Never listen to the naysayers. Keep following your passion and dreams. Life is too damn short. Whose with me? 👊🏽” wrote Lou. Fans showered praise on the bodybuilding legend. “The BADDEST to ever do it!”, wrote one fan.
