Two-time Olympic gold medalist Mikaela Shiffrin was quite unlucky at the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022. Even though Shiffrin was the favorite heading into the 2022 Games, she failed to win a medal in any individual event.
Shiffrin had taken a break from skiing in 2020, owing to problems in her personal life. Consequently, Shiffrin had even considered leaving the sport for good, doubtful she would ever compete again.
Despite everything, she did return to competitive alpine skiing. However, she failed to achieve a podium finish in any of her events at the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022. She now reflects on her 2022 games, and also talks about her late father.

Shiffrin had admitted that the demise of her father Jeff Shiffrin had made her wish to stop playing the sport for good. Needless to say, it was an extremely challenging time for the 26-year-old.
Moreover, she had even shared that she feels the most connected to her late father on the icy slopes. When asked what she thinks her father would have to say about her challenges so far, Shiffrin was open and forthcoming.
“In tough moments, I just wanna see him again. I wanna know what he would say,” Shiffrin opened up. “We can’t get that,” she added sadly and retrospectively.
Furthermore, Shiffrin said, “cried every time I ever won anything”. Sadly, the Olympian stated that she doesn’t think she gave her father much to cry about in pride at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
“I hope he’d be proud but I’m not totally sure,” Mikaela Shiffrin stated about her father. Nevertheless, Shiffrin is convinced she “can still ski and have performances that would have moved him to tears”, and she looks forward to them in the future.
Failure doesn’t scare Mikaela
“Some days you lose, and some days you win,” Mikaela Shiffrin spoke retrospectively, looking back at her unsatisfactory 2022 Winter Olympics.
