Former legends wish Nathan Chen
The last time an American won a figure skating gold medal was during the 2010 Winter Olympics. Evan Lysacek, who won the gold medal then, welcomed Nathan Chen to the club. Along with Lysacek, other gold medal winners like Meryl Davis, Charlie White, Sarah Hughes, Tara Lipinski, Kristi Yamaguchi, Brian Boitano, Scott Hamilton, Dorothy Hamill, Peggy Fleming Jenkins, and David Jenkins congratulated him.

Even legends of the sport like Hayes Alan Jenkins, Carol Heiss Jenkins, and Tenley Albright appeared in the video. Nonetheless, the first American to win the figure skating gold medal, Dick Button, wished Chen with a heart-warming message.
Indeed, it was great to see some of the legends giving their appreciation to the new champion. After winning the bronze medal at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, Chen was determined towards his dreams in Beijing,?and did so remarkably.

Chen puts on a historic performance
The sensational Chen produced one of the best figure skating performances in recent years. He broke the world record during the short program with a score of 113.97. Earlier Japan’s Yuzuru Hanyu set the world record for the short program, but Chen absolutely smashed it this year. Dancing to the tunes of Elton John’s Rocketman, Chen produced a flawless display that included his famous five quadruple jumps.
In a historic performance, he performed remarkably well with elegance and poise. With that, Chen achieved his lifelong goal and dream and won the gold medal at the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022.
