The Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 are now in their penultimate week. Sadly, star American alpine skier Mikaela Shiffrin is yet to win a gold medal this time around.

Today, Shiffrin finished eighteenth in her downhill event. However, it wasn’t all sadness for her, or for her competitor Sofia Goggia, who is competing at the Olympics despite having suffered from a terrible crash last year at the World Cup.

Goggia, after winning the silver medal at the event, thanked Lindsey Vonn and Mikaela Shiffrin for their support.

Sofia Goggia, after she won her silver medal at the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022, thanked former alpine ski racer, Lindsey Vonn,?for her words of support. “I want to say, thank you Lindsey, we all love you,” Goggia said animatedly.

Then, dramatically waving her arms above her head, she expressed her adoration for the two-time Olympic gold medalist. “I am your biggest fan,” Goggia expressed.

Furthermore, she also stated that Vonn “will always be her idol”. Additionally, Goggia thanked Lindsey for her words of support lately. “Your support in the last days means everything,” the Italian Olympian stated.

Sofia Goggia also thanked two-time gold medalist and competitor Mikaela Shiffrin for her words of support as well. Shiffrin had taken to Instagram and Twitter to encourage Goggia for her comeback.

Thus, Goggia acknowledged and appreciated her American competitor’s support. “Mikaela was pretty nice to me, and I’m happy with this,” Goggia expressed.

Sofia Goggia had suffered from a terrible crash last year at the World Cup. Consequently, she had sprained her knee and suffered from a torn ligament.

Just a year later, Goggia made her comeback to the Beijing Winter Olympics and completed her first downhill run. Subsequently, she had stated that she was happy enough to be there and successfully ski downhill without incident or pain.

Responding to this, Shiffrin took to Twitter to encourage and applaud Goggia for her feat. She stated that anyone who found Goggia lacking because of a winning position was just testament to how much respect the Italian commands for her skiing.
